Man vs. Wild
Man vs. Wild was a process and performance work, made for the “Subversiva Spår” show, that toured Sweden and Finland during the summer of 2011. We created a fictional emergency situation at Långholmen, Stockholm. During the performance we made attempts to connect the site vertically with the space above, through communication with aircrafts. The work is also an attempt to raise an ephemeral historical monument on the site, connecting it’s history to the present - as it was the location for a fighter plane crash during an air show nearly twenty years ago. The title is borrowed from the Discovery television series by the same name, where the host of the show -Bear Grylls, teaches survival techniques as he tries to find his way back to civilization from various locations in the wild.
